I only use the microwave for heating stuff; home microwaves were never really designed for cooking, not the models with the rotating plate.
There are microwaves designed for cooking, like the Amana Commercial 1000 watt RCS10TS, which I own a copy of; but they will never replace the griddle, grill, deep fryer, or other cooking methods. Long live the frying pan and soup pot.

My wife uses the oven to store pots and pans, cookie sheets and other items. I’m not sure it’s possible to use it to cook any more.

Gladys remembers easily though — all she has to do is make something Brutus HATES (Shepherd’s Surprise for example).

I have two NuWave induction burners and a NuWave infrared convection oven. They made my conventional range obsolete. I store my crock pot in the oven.

I like induction cooking myself, and use it for my breakfast buffets for eggs and omelets to order. The NuWave is not NSF certified for food service so I use the Vollrath 59500P, which is ideal for the purpose because three in a row is a good armspan.

Microwave ovens are best for baked potatoes and popcorn. Other cooking takes thought and art. Another use is to cook oatmeal in the morning when getting ready for work. The secret for doing this is to cook the oatmeal in a much larger bowl at about 60% power.

If I walked in the door and said “what’s for dinner” to my wife she’d say “I don’t know, what you making?”

“I had to stop using my microwave….
I put instant coffee in it and actually went back in time”

The Gas &Electric Co. replaced my gas meter two years ago because it hadn’t registered any usage in four years (from when I moved into my home). I tried to explain it was because I never used my stove (the only thing in my house hooked up to the gas) but they didn’t believe me.
Now, I’m seeing how long it will be before they replace it again.
    Long live my microwave!
