The Born Loser began in 1965 as a strip with no central characters that revolved around the loser theme. Gradually, it developed into the comic we see today, starring lovable loser Brutus Thornapple, his wife Gladys, mother-in-law Ramona Gargle, boss Rancid Veeblefester, dim-witted son Wilberforce and the mischievous neighbor Hurricane Hattie O'Hara.
Artist Chip Sansom began apprenticing for his father, Born Loser creator Art Sansom, in 1977. He became a full-time assistant, and gradually took on an ever-increasing role in the drawing and gag-writing duties until his father passed away in 1991.

Quite alarming, to be sure. And smashing at the same time.

Nothing worse? How about the alarm goes off, you get up take a shower, get dressed for work and then it dawns on you; it’s your day off.

Fortunately, I have a “smart” alarm clock that can tell the difference between weekdays and weekends. It won’t go off on a Saturday or a Sunday, unless I set it to do that.

@AshburnStadium
Not all of us work only Monday through Friday. I only set my alarm when I had to get up early. And if I had to set it, chances are it was a job I didn’t want and would not last at

Absolutely! Punch the off button with a triumphant snarl and roll over with a contented smile on your face for a couple more hours of sleep. Heaven!!

One time I dreamed the alarm rang, and since I got up in the dark anyway, I didn’t think anything was wrong with that. I was about halfway thru getting dressed and noticed it was a little after 3 am and my alarm was set for 6.
Took a while to get back to sleep and was dragging thru that day.

That’s the nice thing about using the cell phone as the bedside alarm. I can just set an alarm for M-F and let Saturday go by the boards.
