    Admittedly my dictionary is English and American, but it defines ample thus;

    ample /ˈæmpəl/ adj

    more than sufficient; abundant: an ample helpinglarge in size, extent, or amount: of ample proportions

    Etymology: 15th Century: from Old French, from Latin amplus spacious.
    How does the adjective ample relate to a thought process?

    @Prof danglais

    He took a more than sufficient or ‘ample’ amount of time to consider whether or not Thornapple deserves a raise, perhaps.

    Rancid better put a lock on the supply cabinet and

    check the copy paper…I knew a true criminal

    years ago and he said “One way or another I’ll get paid.”

    A guy offered me a job as bartender. He asked “Would you take $100 a week?”. He paid me $100, I got great tips and I “took” $100 a week.

    In this case “ample” means he didn’t waste a whole lotta time on this.
