The Born Loser began in 1965 as a strip with no central characters that revolved around the loser theme. Gradually, it developed into the comic we see today, starring lovable loser Brutus Thornapple, his wife Gladys, mother-in-law Ramona Gargle, boss Rancid Veeblefester, dim-witted son Wilberforce and the mischievous neighbor Hurricane Hattie O'Hara.
Artist Chip Sansom began apprenticing for his father, Born Loser creator Art Sansom, in 1977. He became a full-time assistant, and gradually took on an ever-increasing role in the drawing and gag-writing duties until his father passed away in 1991.

I’d rather cut grass than shovel snow!

I agree if I had a choice between the two, I’d prefer to cut grass.

@AshburnStadium
Agreed. You cut the grass once a week. Sometimes you shovel snow eight days straight.

and do not forget when it snows my grass looks as good as the neighbors

…and you don’t need to shovel rain.

I don’t have to worry about snow dying or being overrun by weeds in hot, dry weather. There is much less area that I clear of snow than is occupied by lawn. My snow blower has self-propulsion in addition to the hurling function; my lawn mower not. The main worry I have with snow is that some of it contains road salt, which subsequently damages the lawn.

There is nothing good about winter. Anyone that even likes it need mental help.

With this global warming I did not shovel snow once last winter, in Michigan. Haven’t shoveled snow yet this winter either.

And with the drought last summer I didn’t have to mow the lawn too many times.

I have to mow the lawn once or twice a week, snow I can go months without a storm then I may have to shovel twice a day for a couple weeks. I’ll take snow any day over mowing the lawn.
