    Vultures eat meat. Birds in general eat several times their weight. So the saying, “eats like a bird” aimed at someone who picks at their food is misleading.

    For those not familiar with the term, a peck is one -quarter bushel or (depending on the item) someplace around 15 pounds.

    Anyone who owns birds knows that they make the pigs in another “eating” idiom appear downright anorexic.
