The Born Loser began in 1965 as a strip with no central characters that revolved around the loser theme. Gradually, it developed into the comic we see today, starring lovable loser Brutus Thornapple, his wife Gladys, mother-in-law Ramona Gargle, boss Rancid Veeblefester, dim-witted son Wilberforce and the mischievous neighbor Hurricane Hattie O'Hara.
Artist Chip Sansom began apprenticing for his father, Born Loser creator Art Sansom, in 1977. He became a full-time assistant, and gradually took on an ever-increasing role in the drawing and gag-writing duties until his father passed away in 1991.

I would shop elsewhere, especially with the attitude of that salesman.

I agree, Paul Smith. When the sales staff think they’re better than their customers it’s time to shop some place else.

I’d say he is lucky that he has a section, so many stores now days think’s everyone is the exact same size.
He doesn’t look big to me at all.

At least you “fit in” with 1/3 of Americans and that number is “growing”.

He should check out catalog shopping. That kind of clothing store is usually overpriced for what you get and is based on the service.

Talk about a bad store layout – the Portly Section should be on the left.

Helping a customer find clothing in their size is part of the salesman’s job. Asking personal questions like that is, or at least should be, out of bounds.

In today’s obese society, sizes are larger than they were in the past. Today, L is what used to be XL and XL is what used to be XXL and waist sizes on trousers are at least 2 inches bigger, e.g. size 38 is what used to be (30 yrs ago) size 40. Long live high fructose corn syrup!

I pick out a nice fabric, nice lining fabric, style details. Then I strip to my underwear and Angelo checks my measurements and works his magic. Two more fittings and I’m well suited!
