   For those of you interested in yesterday’s picnic story. I was working in the Bethel hospital when I became a friend of a local. When he recovered he invited me to a family picnic, a real honor for me. Some of the traditional foods, especially seal oil, were difficult to keep smiling through since they obviously relished the treat. And the whipped blubber called “ice cream” was not served cold.
   It’s been a couple or three decades since but the memory is still sharp. Thanks for asking. As for today’s strip. Maybe you could tell me who the famous chicken was because local food in ’70’s-80’s Alaska did not include chicken.

    Surprised they didn’t serve any walrus jerky. LL has figgered it out spot on. This is the famous ‘funky chicken’ 40 yrs later.

    Nay Nay! Just found it ironically amusing picking on a whale for being big. If they weren’t big they’d b guppies. I wonder if there r teacup whales… hmmmmmmmmmmm.
