That’s an onion. It’ll add a certain Je ne sais quoi.

That’s one of those Onomatopoeic words. Take a big hit on the beet pipe and your head goes ‘bong’!

I wish my Mom had taught me valuable lessons like that.
All I got was that “Do unto others” nonsense.
Oh, and “Clean your plate, there’s kids starving in Africa.”

Click-for-larger-than-actual-size image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

A Woman scraping Parsnips, with a Child standing by her (link shows Wikipedia, since apparently someone can’t tell it from a beet) is shown, with a different coloration, enlargeable (slider on right) image, and described, by its current-location page.

One online book identifies the Woman as the Mother, another as a Maid. The artist᾿s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).

Third, of the 3 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

It’s never too late to learn the Code of the West:
“Do unto others afore the m others do it unto you.”

That ‘starving kids’ thing never did increase my appetite.
Beets me what that woman is doing.
