I thought it was an early Klan meeting – discussing whether they should go completely white.

Turkey, cooked in Greece, served up on fine China.

(That’s the punchline to a very old joke…so old I forget the buildup.)

Modestly enlarged image can be found here (replaced earlier different coloration, click-to-enlarge image), or at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.

Sultan Ahmed III receives French ambassador Vicomte d’Andrezel at Topkapı Palace (links show Wikipedia pages, 2nd Google translated), isn’t, as far as I can tell, shown online by its current-location.

A larger image (also has fuzzy characters) is shown on page 14, and described on page 16, of this French museum document (if, like me, you don’t read French, scroll down to Page 16 in the Bing translated text, loses images). I would guess a kapidgi is the sultan’s chief-of-staff(?).

Another different coloration, click-to-enlarge image can be found here. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).
