Some relatives awoke to a lot of noise downstairs one night. Turns out their cat had leaped onto the dog’s back and it bolted. The cat in turn dug in, which hurt the dog’s back. It ran in circles around the central divider that separated kitchen from living room.

She’s kinda horse-faced, but it’s because of her good breeding.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

A Lion Attacking a Horse is shown, with a different coloration, click-to-enlarge image, by its current-location page (Google Art Project page provides click-to-humongous image).

A description is provided on pages 174-176 of an online book (page 176 also describes another version). A discussion of a third version (in two different media) can be found on pages 64-65, and 296-297.

A click-to-larger-than-actual-size image of the enamel on copper can be found here, and a click-to-larger-than-actual-size image of the oil on panel can be found here (same museum as this painting). The artist’s Wikipedia page (shows yet a fourth version) and collection (more in Subcategories at each level).

Third, of the 4 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

If the lion can stay on for seven seconds, he gets a new belt with a big honkin’ buckle on it.
