I used to know a woman who played the oboe in the local “symphony.” She got a cat who did not love music…and peed his protest all over the oboe.

Our dog used to “sing” along with music. If she’d not liked it, she would have gone to another room or gone outside, but she would sit and “oooooooo” along with it.

I’ve tried to teach my cats to dance several times but they never appreciate it.

    The dog seems well entertained.
The kitten/puppy on the table, not so much.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

Children teaching a Cat to dance (AKA The Dancing Lesson) is shown, with a different coloration detail image (click the minus spyglass for the full painting), and described (Google translated), by its current-location page (Chrome can automatically translate the Dutch page).

It is also described (no Google translation) in its Google Art Project page (different coloration, click-to-enlarge image). The artist‘s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).

Third, of the 8 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

I’m glad you noticed, too. I think that’s what he’s referring to by mentioning PETA.

They could show bear baiting… Of course, some do-gooder might oppose that, too.

I have a couple of 7 week old pups, and they will dance around like that by themselves while chasing an old sock, or a ball…right up on their back legs, until they fall over, then they will get right back up and do it again, and again until they go on to something else to amuse themselves.
