Actually, I just stopped by to say “Thank you!” to Mabrndt for yesterday’s link to a longer bit of that J.Cash/R. Miller performance.

And to say to bbfrg… you’re welcome!

Enlarged image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

Countess d’Haussonville (link shows her Google translated French Wikipedia page) is shown, along with 2 detail images, and described, by its current-location page (click different coloration images there for enlargement).

A different coloration, click-to-humongous image can be found here, or at the teacher link below (which also has this click-to-humongous detail image). Another different coloration, click-to-humongous image can be found at the Google Art Project page, but many different coloration or detail images are available online.

The artist also painted a portrait of her sister-in-law. The artist‘s Wikipedia page and collection (many more under Subcategories at each level).

Eighth, of the 11 works, by this artist/teacher, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

No pregnancy, just that the corset gave her a small waist and the rest had to go somewhere, right? Women were allowed to eat in those days. Today woman have no bodies, just legs. Ummm, what does that signify psychologically? Ingres: the greatest portraiturist ever. Her cousin’s (Princess de Broglie’s) picture is, IMHO, the greatest portrait ever painted. Look closely at the movement in the that one, she’s breathing (throat and necklace) and her bracelet is falling down her arm. Absolute brilliiant.

Also, BTW, this Countess had a reknowned salon in her day, and was married to a very wealthy man. She seemed to have been considered a beauty. Just like today’s Lady Gaga’s a real beauty, or Beyonce.
