Has the guy in green got a spear going through his head? He’ll remember Jesus alright.

Nah, he’s the jester…that’s the old “fake lance through the head” hat. You can see he’s combined it with the “fake bald head”.

Depiction of something in the 12th or 13th century? Plate armor was almost gone by the 1500s (except for a few remnants like the Spanish’s breastplate/backplate).

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here (Bing translated), or here (Google translated). Smaller enlargement can be found at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

Arrest of Christ (link shows Wikipedia page) is one of the panels in the Sebastian Altar (of the Augustinian Canons St. Florian in Linz) altarpiece. The altarpiece is described here by its current-location, which has the 12 remaining panels. Different coloration versions of it are embedded in this 8 panel image and this 6 panel image, shown by the current-location.

Another different coloration, click-to-enlarge image of this panel, along with a short description, can be found here. The artist‘s Wikipedia page (Google translated German Wikipedia page may have more) and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).

Second, of the 4 works, by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

there’s a portrait of young William Penn in a breastplate from around 1680. They were useful until the pike ceased to be part of the infantry’s weaponry.
