Tired of art snobs and their stuffy old museums? So was Steve Melcher, so he created That Is Priceless -- dedicated to taking art’s greatest masterpieces down a peg with irreverent new titles. You don’t have to be an art lover to appreciate Steve’s sticking it to the man on a regular basis – especially when that man is someone like Caravaggio, who when you look a little closer, was really kind of a jerk.

When will they invent electric lighting? It’s too dark to paint and this paint brush feels like a musical instrument.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here, or here, with a smaller enlargement at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.
Young Woman in Red Blouse (AKA Young Woman with a Mandolin, link shows Wikipedia page) is shown by its current-location page (Google translated, different coloration image).
Another different coloration, click-to-enlarge image can be found here. Another different coloration image can be found here. The artist included a mandolin in several paintings of (young) women, available online, even another one, found here, with a red blouse. The artist‘s Wikipedia page and collection (many more under Subcategories at each level).
Second (not my best day), of the 3 works by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

Your “not best” days are amazing at worst… your best days…? Phenomenal.

I went to see the Caravaggio exhibit at LACMA yesterday and discovered that I now can’t view a painting without trying to caption it inappropriately!
