Tired of art snobs and their stuffy old museums? So was Steve Melcher, so he created That Is Priceless -- dedicated to taking art’s greatest masterpieces down a peg with irreverent new titles. You don’t have to be an art lover to appreciate Steve’s sticking it to the man on a regular basis – especially when that man is someone like Caravaggio, who when you look a little closer, was really kind of a jerk.

Some of the old ones in the 1990s did. I heard a feminist complaining that 15% of the marriages that happened in the 1990s from the East Bloc didn’t work out. Hardly something to complain about, given that 30% of marriages divorce in the U.S. (the 50% comes from dividing the number of marriages and divorces in a year, but not everybody gets married in the same year. “Serial divorcees” account for the higher rate with people usually divorcing several times because they bring themselves into a marriage.)
.
I analyze the matter in one of my books, but the upshot was that GenX men in this country got tired of waiting for American women their age to stop partying and “living the single life” in the late 1990s. The “life’s a party, life’s a big laugh”, “hey, I got nice guys to clean up after me” got old. So they went elsewere to find women who actually wanted to marry. Not surprisingly, common interests plus a determination to work things out seems to have been very successful.
.
Thanks to alcohol and drugs being the only “escape” for many in Russia and other east bloc nations (sort of like the 11 liters of pure alcohol that modern Europeans drink per year), the life expectancy for males had crashed to 59 in 1990 in Russia. With all the problems that went with long-term alcoholism. Large numbers of East Bloc women wanted someone who didn’t drink or do drugs. They wanted someone sober, kind, and serious about life to marry. American women wanted the opposite. And so, millions of marriages from the east bloc.

Modestly enlarged image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.
The Dachshund family with Hunter and maid (link shows Wikipedia page that provides that English title) is privately owned.
Admiring the puppies was sold (with a different coloration image) in 2004. The artist’s German Wikipedia page (Google translated) and collection.
So far, 2 works by this artist (NEXT advances more than one page) have appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
