    To do list:
    String up every aristocrat
Out with the priests and let then live on their fat
Down with all of the ruling class
Throw all the generals out on their ass

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.

Assassinated Marat (BKA The Death of Marat, link shows painting’s Wikipedia page, with many links) is shown by its current-location page (Chrome can translate the body, but not Google Translate or Bing). The Google Art Project page has the highest resolution. The A before MARAT is short for Assassiné (Assassinated).

The painting is also described here, along with a different coloration, click-to-enlarge image, and an accompanying description of the hand-held note.

Another description, with its different coloration image, can be found here. Others can be found here and here, with their own different coloration images. Another different coloration image can be found here; but there are many different coloration, detail, or distorted images of this famous painting online.

The BBC devoted an hour to a discussion of paintings by this artist and the French Revolution (events surrounding this painting start at the 37:44 mark). A shorter YouTube video devoted to the painting can be found here. A book has been written about the painting. This (may make you hungry) shows an image of the framed painting in the museum.

The artist also drew another image of the subject, described here. The artist’s WIkipedia page and collection (many more under Subcategories at each level).

Second of the 5 works by this artist/teacher, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.
