He don’t give a damn about any trumpet playing band

    :ↁ Excellent!
Now I’m hearing Gene Kelly singing:

And would you dare to say,
’Let’s do the same as they.’?
    I would. Wood shoe!

I wouldn’t live back then for all the tea in China. Literally or figuratively.

Has he been to Japan? Those look like getta.
If they had iron rings on the bottom they’d be pattens, but I doubt he’s ever been in a British textile mill, either, or down a mine.

Looks like he is holding up 2 fingers saying, “I was told there were twins. Where is the second one?”
    Or…
Is he holding up Lady GaGa’s hand sign for her little monsters?

    Click-to-enlarge image available from here.

St. Francis of Paola Blessing the Son of Louisa of Savoy (click the links for their Wikipedia pages, his Catholic Encyclopedia bio) isn’t, as far as I can tell, described online at its current-location (Google translated). Although this artist is in the Autore (Author) list here, no results were produced for any Secolo (Century) choice. Perhaps someone else knows how to get a result. The identity of the son is provided by an online book. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection.

So far, the only work by this artist to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.

Pattens were worn all over Europe just to keep your shoes and feet out of the mud. Hence the iconic Dutch wooden shoe.
