    Penitent Mary Magdalene is described in the current-location’s page (the source of the humongous image). Her Wikipedia page and Catholic bio. The artist (his Catholic bio has his more common online first name) featured her in at least 5 paintings with a very similar title.

    This shows 3 of them, the first of which has the title The Penitent Magdalen here. This and this show 2 others with that in the title. His Wikipedia page and collection (more available in the various Subcategories).

    So far, 4 works by this artist have appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
