United they Stand Man 1: What say you, fellow congress creature to a bill creating jobs? Man 2: Nay. Woman: Shall we assist the poor? Man 2: No way we can get the votes for that. Man 3: Perhaps something to address climate change? Man 2: That doesn't even exist?!? Man 4: War? Man 2: I thought you'd never ask.
What some call “war”, others call “profits”, and that’s what drives K street and Congress today.
As to the content of the Constitution, I always find it interesting that in addition to the militia statement in the Amendment, the “promote the general welfare” in the very statement of the founders’ purpose, always seem to get “lost” in conservative discussions, or propaganda. Welfare had far less meanings back then, but it did mean more than just “food stamps”.
