    …shades of 1940’s Germany.

Just wait for the future. 1940’s Germany bears little resemblance to the current conflict. Sorry capndunzzi, you need a WWII history refresher. http://www.alternet.org/story/151864/6_creepy_new_weapons_the_police_use_to_subdue_unarmed_people

Tear gas wasn’t used back then and pepper spray hadn’t been invented yet. The opposition was suppressed the “classical” way: nightsticks, knuckle-dusters, clubs, fists. The brownshirts always came in huge masses to beat up small groups of communists, socialists and so on. Modern technology has provided police departments with the means of controlling more people with less officers. But if the masses really rise up the only thing the police can do is use deadly force. And after that it will be open season on every police officer in the country…

Your second revolution (and second civil war) will be a very messy thing. I recently found an outlet called “Freedom Outpost”. When you scan the headlines (i don’t read rabid drivel) you get the impression that the President is a dead man walking and the next ruler will be wearing a cowboy-hat during inauguration. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE RIGHT WING! That’s the lesson one should take away from Germany 1928-1945. These people don’t care if they live or die, what do you think they think about YOU living or dieing?

Nothing a little White Phosphorus dropped out of drones onto the Syrian people that won’t make a true statement

When the US govt talks about spreading “freedom and democracy” just look at Iraq. A horror show brought to you by war criminals still not in prison in the USA.

One of the reasons the Syrian people rebelled was because the Assad admin shot demonstrators on sight in public. It hasn’t come to that yet in this country.

Having been tear gassed many times (I was hoping, in vain, to meet one of the many women protesting when the US was justly avenging the perfidious North Vietnamese attack on the US Navy in the Gulf of Tonkin, an attack verified by all the US MSM), there is no comparison between tear gas and nerve gas.

And the US claims that the Syrian government conducted those attacks MUST be believed. As all the US mainstream media assured us, the North Vietnamese really attacked the US Navy in Tonkin and Saddam really had a massive nuclear arsenal that was days from completion, so the US had to send the troops in without armour (and many had to die when a delay of six months would have kept them alive, but then Saddam would have had his nuclear arsenal and would be ruling the world today).

The US MSM also tell us that Iraq has gone from a hell on earth to a paradise, democratic and prosperous. Most Iraqis in the US agree (they learned what happens when you contradict the government). And all Iraqis outside the US are just liars when they say Iraq is much worse now than under Saddam.

Now all the Western MSM assure us that, as a free and truthful press, it is absolutely certain that the Syrian government killed 1,429 innocent children and MUST be punished. (For students of rhetoric and how to lie effectively, faux precision, anyone?)

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I think you’ve said you live overseas, maybe in Germany.

We all have our racist nuts. Do you think the NDP is going to gain serious traction in German politics?

There is zilch real support for another civil war or even Texas seceding. Most of our neo-Fascists are big talkers, but really look like this:

Coincidentally, he’s another gun nut who killed himself & his family. They are a danger, but not a threat to overthrow the government.

On the other hand, the US Chamber of Commerce scares me.

Umm, inappropriate spray can placement on the cop in the center. Thought he was pissing blood for a minute there. Not sure if that was intentional, but sure sends a message!

    • It hasn’t come to that
      in this country.*
      You got that right, Radish!
      Kent State never happened.
Neither did the shootings at “Hooverville”!
Did you study history in school? Did you go to school?

“Did you study history in school? Did you go to school?”

Umm, total death toll of 7 in two incidents almost 60 years apart. Really, there are much better examples out there. The labor battles of the late 19th & early 20th Centuries were the biggest bloodbaths since the Civil War, but pale in comparison to what is happening in Syria.

    Radish is absolutely correct.

There is a relative of one of the people killed at Kent State. They traced the gun that killed the students to an FBI agent. According to this person the gun still exists and is locked in a safe in an FBI office.
Look, I was in Bekeley when the National Guard Reagan called out killed a guy. These things happen, but American police are not driving by in a pick up and shooting machine guns into the crowd as they did in Syria and in several other Middle Eastern countries.
Have you noticed however that as the American police are becoming militarized they would rather shoot any one who gives them trouble? These are usually violent disputes rather than political protest, so far.

“Thanks. I’ll have to learn how to do the HTML link one of these days from the quackit.com site.”

It’s basic html script. Remove the periods from the inside the < > tags from the examples below.

    <.a. href=“http://abc.com/xyz.htm”>Link Title<./.a>
    <.br.> Starts a new line
<.br.><.br.> Leaves a blank line before starting new line
