    Of course, the “PATRIOT Act” established free speech zones are 6 blocks away from where anyone can hear them…

    It’s a pity they didn’t listen to Osama, who said NOT to kill innocents.

    Of course, I was sitting next to a young Saudi one Ramadan, and he explained that the people working in the World Trade Center were all heinous criminals who had murdered more than one billion innocents, so they could not go unpunished, and he said he’d learned this from listening to Osama in Arabic. I’m not sure how Osama and the young Saudis convicted the people in the World Trade Center, but Osama only wanted the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, the White House, and the Capitol destroyed, not the runners in a marathon.

    There’s Tom’s world, the world of the rich, white and privileged and then there’s reality. How can someone so oblivious be respected for their ‘wisdom’? Because it’s other oblivions just like him that think he’s wise. As Bugs Bunny would say, “What a maroon!”

    Is there actually evidence that the alleged Boston marathon bombers were upset with the U.S. wars on Iraq and Afghanistan?

    Thomas Friedman has the kind of wisdom that goes via text message from taxi drivers in Karachi to lathe operators in Taiwan, all in the pursuit of that specialness that is America.

    (The above was written by the Thomas Friedman op-ed column generator, an automatic webpage that shows you he can fix the world easily.)

    As I recollect Tom supported wholeheartedly our wars of choice in Iraq and Afghanistan. The better query is why Tom Friedman hasn’t been tarred and feathered by the entire American populace long ago.

    @mattro53

    Nobody with the slightest bit of common sense pays any attention to Friedman whatsoever.The things he says about China and climate change are absolutely ridiculous.

    Completely different epeople involved. Very few people who listen to Friedman would be Bush and Cheney fans.

    Yes, if for no other reason they were upset with the US/Western Civ influence in Muslim countries.

    “It’s a pity they didn’t listen to Osama, who said NOT to kill innocents.”

    Given a choice between your sappy “young Captain story” where you walk through corpses or the Osama bullshit story about not killing innocents it’s a tough decision. Okay I decided, they’re both ridiculous.
