    Ok Ted, I get the point.

    I’m still happy that Portman saw the light after his son came out. He didn’t try to weasel his opinion by saying it should be left to each state. He didn’t wait until he left office before speaking up. Would you rather he pull a Cheney?

    This is what progress looks like. We need to keep highlighting the fact that both DOMA & drones can hurt those we care about.

    In other words, people don’t care until it happens to them.

    Sorry, it probably didn’t mean as a couple. Everything it says is an insult to someone.

    You’ve got my vote on this one. It all depends on whose ox is being gored.

    @Uncle Joe

    The problem is that these proselytizers who want to tell us how to live our lives don’t have empathy- only when their backwards philosophies hurt “me and mine” do they realize the harm they’re doing.
    It’s nice that Sen. Portman came to the realization that denying rights to others due to religious dogma is wrong- but why did it take his own son coming out to bring this about? And why do we, the voters, insist on electing politicians who lack empathy for those not exactly like us?

    So what’s your interpretation?
