You work with the government you’ve been given, not necessarily the one you want. It’s the Egyptian’s decision. :-) Doesn’t that sound like Cheney?

It is totally refreshing to watch the US government NOT meddle in another country’s business.

We could have supported the wrong guy the first time.
.
We can find and support the wrong guy this time.
.
Roll the dice, seven or higher we invade to help, six and lower we stay home.
.
It is not our country, anything we do will be wrong.

So when a Democrat is occupying the white house, it’s OK to police the world?

I don’t know if you are aware but the Egyptian state has been a client of the U.S. for several decades now.
Its military- the backbone of the state politically and economically- receives an annual military subsidy. It is funded, armed, and trained by the U.S.. The security apparatus is essentially an extension of the local CIA mission. And then there’s the non military aid the U.S. president is currently presenting contingent on the Egyptian government carrying out the U.S./IMF economic dictates that attack the already dismal living standards of most Egyptians- which the elite is more than happy to .
Acting like the U.S. is a neutral third party here is like Gorbachev while in power saying that hes playing no role in East Germany

Consistently conservative.

No. Besides, I believe the quote you are misapplying came from Rumsfeld. Something like “you go to war with the army (military) you have, not the one you want”.

By definition, anyone we back in this part of the world (other than an Israeli) is the wrong guy.
Lavocat said, 6 months ago
Yeah: consistently WRONG!

AFAIK there were no bombs, guns etc. provided to Egypt by the U.S., on either side. For once the U.S. stayed out, except for verbal support for the revolution. Well, revolutions often don’t turn out like you think, just ask Mr. Robespierre…

BTW: the whole point is moot as of today, Morsi has taken back the decree, all is well again – except with his army of Islamic extremists waiting for their next chance :-(

Actually, you can trace the current value of Mubarak’s cash holdings/investments to be almost identical to the “aid” Egypt received during his tenure. Over $40 billion last time it was a topic, which was right when he was being offered a place to escape to, that the idiot should have probably accepted. Give me $40 bl and watch me fund “Freedom Fighters” who wish to install me as KING after 5 years. For $5 billion, that’s cheap. I’ll make up for that just in US Aid once I start letting them launch drones from my new homeland! I could probably still collect SS too!
