So very true trout. A rather weak example, actually.

Sad that there had to be a law written to make it illegal to disrupt a funeral.

Since when? The USSC recently struck this law down on 1st Amendment grounds. And when did war ever have anything to do with dignity?

Yes, and all of them have flag with nazi emblems on them too – in the same way that all from the middle east are terrorists.

So a rogue incident in which even the military itself was offended somehow trumps almost a decade of Fred Phelps and Cindy Sheehan?

And strangely enough, they were not peeing on dead enemy soldiers. They were doing it on guerilla fighters and terrorists. But for some strange reason, the media insists on calling them “soldiers”.

Just another example of the media trying to aford some dignity to men who fought for their beliefs. By the way, what unit were you in?

The Phelps crowd, though disgusting, has been cooperative with the police. They protest in areas set aside for them. They have worked with the police, giving advance notice.

I am not defending them. I would like to see them completely surrounded by peaceful counter-protesters, completely hidden from view. But by all the reports I have read or heard, they are practicing their First Amend. rights in a legal, civil fashion. And it the USA we don’t (sometimes regrettably) shut down people’s right to speak.

“The Phelps crowd, though disgusting, has been cooperative with the police.”

Phelps is far better at understanding and applying the law to his benefit than he is in understanding the teachings of Christ.

Yes, let’s get moral guidance from a culture that enjoys cutting off a corpse’s genitals and stuffing them down its throat.

These funeral protests are reprehensible, but have to be allowed if we believe in free speech and protest.
Terrorists or legitimate soldiers? It’s a sliding scale. George Washington’s hit-and-run tactics are similar to what we would call an “insurgency” today.
Is peeing on corpses really so bad? Yes, especially if it ends up on YouTube. It has done more damage to the NATO “cause” than a hundred IEDs.
And as for the cause itself? There is no good exit from this war for us. There is only an exit, with our “allies” shooting at our backs on the way out the door.
And my unit? Ninth Air Force, Vietnam, 1970.

^^Jerm, I assume you’re referencing what Crusaders did to Muslims, and what American troops did in Viet Nam, and elsewhere?? “Nationalists” especially as “moralists” are the most blind, and dangerous.

You give guns to nutcases, they kill Americans.
You give guns to your children, they kill Americans.
You give guns to Aghanistanis, they kill Americans.

Sooner or later, you gotta figure it out.

The GOP is working to get guns in utero. The NRA will get it legalized soon after.
