We need to get rid of more of those pesky regulations that are strangling businesses.

the controls were done after the 30’s to prevent that sort of
thing…they were removed and now look at the situation…the
unmitigated greed and lack of ethics needs to be controled

You do understand sarcasm, don’t you?!?! (Hint: the word “pesky” is often a tip-off.)

Boring or not, it needs to be prosecuted. If you want an account that won’t put you to sleep, read Matt Taibbi’s series of articles in Rolling Stone.

Bank scandals are now arriving quarterly.

Time and again it’s demonstrated that the problem is not the lack of regulations but rather the lack of enforcement of regulations. The management levels of the regulating bodies always come from the industries they are supposed to be policing, and then return to those industries when their tenure at management is up. The mid- and lower levels of the regulators uncover mischief going on and the upper levels tell them to shut up or get fired, or worse. A case in point is the Madoff Ponzi scheme. It was apparently obvious to everyone that something was up, but no one would do anything about it. If you want to stop this nonsense, come up with a way to stop this unholy alliance between government and big business.

Well said. There’s way too much revolving door behavior / conflict of interest going on. It’s endemic. Private profit>>public ’enforcement’>>back to private profit>>back to public ‘enforcement’ . . .

I’m waiting for a progressive version of the Tea Party. What’s taking so long?

The Occupy movement was too busy committing vandalism, committing rape, theft, public defication and trespassing to be effective as a progressive version.
The Tea Party is made up of law abiding citizens, the Occupy movement, not so much.
And face it, a bunch of people demanding not to be left alone, like the tea party, but demanding that they be given things that someone else must pay for, is too much like a two year old throwing a tantrum demanding a toy or candy. Too many people would rather you just grow up and act like a self responsible adult.
