    This cartoon perfectly symbolizes the difference post-modern liberals have made in western society, PERIOD.

    Here in America, your policies have all but destroyed the nuclear family, and made both husbands and fathers unnecessary. Your “Great Society” hands women EBT (food stamp) cards, public housing, and Medicaid, and then commands them NOT to work OR get a husband–else all their “free” goodies will be taken away from them. Predictably, we’re now at 30+ million single chicks (and growing steadily all the time) shacking up with live-in boyfriends and pumping out illegitimate kids by as many different men as will have them. And they get REWARDED for this.

    Your hatred of God has driven all the Godly people out of politics, so that we’re stuck with an endless succession of thugs, thieves, liars, and lunatics. Never again will we see a John Adams in office, because Adams’ praise of Christianity–his insistence that it played an integral role in controlling people’s evil desires, especially in politics–would cause you and your media lapdogs to savage him to pieces. In fact EVERY politician who even comes CLOSE to resembling a Bible-believing Christian gets lied about, demonized,. and demagogued by “liberals.” You want ONLY Godless, amoral people in office, and you get them… time after time after time, with people like Barack Obama being perfect poster children for your “values.”

    You celebrate and defend homosexual behavior and abortion only because they’re both activities which spit in the face of God. You worship THE!!! ENVIRONMENT!!! only insofar as it allows government to rob everyone of both their wealth and their freedom. You despise Liberty, and want everyone under the thumb of the Godless politicians you claim will solve all of our problems. You never learn, never grow, never understand, never accept anything pertaining to human beings and human behavior which lines up with reality. You just make fantasies up inside your little ivory towers and demand all of humanity change itself to conform to them. And when they don’t, you make up “hate crimes” laws or whatever else it takes to start imprisoning them and silencing them.

    You’re not liberals, you’re Leftists. Statists. And just as Scripture defines demons as masquerading as angels of light, so too do you always claim to be the “good” ones, with everyone who disagrees being shown “zero tolerance”.

    Great cartoon, though. Nice when a glimmer of truth actually peeks through the clouds which typically cover “liberal” minds…

    (though in fairness I won’t pretend to understand Ted Rall’s spirit; he obviously tilts leftward, but that doesn’t mean he’s blind to the many failings of Leftist idealogy)…

    There is a wonderful irony in the intolerance inherent in scottfreitas’ comments (not just this particular rant, mind you). Like many who espouse the “rightness” of their cause without regard for the opinions of others, he accuses those who disagree with him as being immoral and seeking to subvert his right to live freely.

    Those rotten liberals. If only we didn’t have to be saddled with the eight-hour work day, child labor laws, medical care and a modest income for old folks. America would be great again!

    Remember the good old days when women couldn’t get credit or start a business without their husband’s permission? (I do.) When those pesky folks in wheelchairs had the good sense to confine themselves to the small perimeter that didn’t have curbs or steps? Blame a liberal.

    If you got injured on the job, you got to enjoy the generous charity of your neighbors or family, if you had any. Much more in tune with traditional family values than having an uncaring government or owner of the unsafe workplace pick up the tab.

    It was those dang liberals who interfered with the free market by forcing people to stop owning other people. Things got really bad when chick liberals insisted on being able to vote. It’s been downhill ever since.

    Things are so bad now that 30-million-plus dudes have decided to remain single.

    DU rounds of course are part of the effort to make our weapons as dangerous to OUR troops, as the enemy.

    Promoting, and signing, the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) was perhaps one of the very few intelligent or compassionate things GHW Bush did in his entire career.

    Conservative “God guys” like Jim Watt do everything they can to DESTROY the “environment”, and well, the entire planet that “God” made for us. I’m kinda glad to be rid of them and looking for cooler heads, who actually recognize that “God” is in everything he made, and it is our duty to respect it.

    While Ted’s impatience is understandable, the fact still remains that “conservatives” created the mess, and too few “liberals” resisted the stupidity, because a moronic press, and political machine on the right made objecting, and supporting the rule of law- “treasonous”.

    DU is NOT a legal load, it makes those who use it war criminals, and that includes these uknighted states of america. they are genicidal by it’s very nature, and those who use it, kill our OWN troops as well. “gulf-war syndrome” as all other names the DOD uses to cover it up, it makes no difference, they are killing our troops as well as the general population. A “green” or “free enterprise” cover does not make it legal.

    Depleted uranium rounds are used against enemy armor like tanks, not personnel. It’s a kinetic energy weapon that requires a hard target in order to function, the target armor stopping most of the round but the impact liquifying the uranium, its greater mass and suddenly raised temperature causing it to burst through armor and spray whatever’s inside with red-hot (and somewhat radioactive) metal spatters. It was used in the Gulf War but doesn’t have any application in Afghanistan, where there is no enemy armor.

    The difficulty is the contamination after use, rather well-documented, that can persist for years in the battlefield. It’s more a problem in Iraq than Afghanistan, but it will continue to be a medical and an image problem for decades to come.

    Not really a liberal-conservative thing. Just something else to misunderstand and call names over.

    Our main battle tanks–the Abrams class–use steel-encased depleted-uranium armor, precisely because it’s so bloody hard to penetrate.

    The armor came before the weapons, so far as I know. But the weapons are ugly, yeah. They “rad” their impact area. Sort of the military equivalent of punishing evildoers into the third and fourth generation, given how long it takes for the effects to fade.

    Probably something the UN should push to ban, though that would have the predictable result of the US and other western countries no longer using them, while the Russians, Chinese, etc would at best pay lip service to the ban while continuing to pursue further advances “below the radar screen”… same old same old, like our enemies always do.

    Depleted uranium is not harder to penetrate than conventional armor. Its mineral hardness is only 6.0, on the Mohs scale where talc is 1 and diamond is 10. It is, however, comparatively very massive, heavier than lead, and as such very resistant to inertial penetration weapons such as APFSDS (Armor Piercing, Fin-Stabilized, Discarding Sabot) rounds – essentially a big metal dart. APFSDS does most of its damage not by conventional penetration, but by imparting so great a shock to rigid armor that it shatters like glass, something that happens when the round hits at around 2500 meters per second. Such rounds were expected on the European battlefields the Abrams was designed to dominate.

    Depleted uranium armor has proved less that capable in the urban environment, where side armor can and has been easily penetrated with improvised explosive shaped-charge weapons. Put a 500-gram copper disk next to 500 grams of C-4, set it off, and you get a molten copper jet that goes through Chobham armor and depleted uranium with ease, destroying the tank and filling it with hot depleted-uranium dust, just as if the tank had been struck with a depleted-uranium round. If the blast doesn’t kill you then breathing will, in a few years. The tank’s armor is actually more dangerous to the occupants than to any opponents.

    We don’t need to ban depleted-uranium armor; it will simply kill or maim those crews who hit improvised shaped-charge weapons. Don’t think the Abrams crews don’t know it. Unfortunately, it’s all we have at the moment: a sixty-ton four million dollar terror that can be killed with ten dollars of explosives and scrap metal. You go to war with the army you’ve got, not the one you wish you had, remember?

    Joe Republican gets up at 6:00 AM to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot with good, clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards. He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.

    All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan. Because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast – bacon and eggs this day. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

    Joe takes his morning shower, reaching for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount that is contains because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and the breakdown of its contents. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree-hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

    Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer meets these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed he’ll get worker’s compensation or an unemployment check because some liberal didn’t think he should loose his home to temporary misfortune.

    It’s noon time. Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.

    Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

    Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans. The house didn’t have electric until some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification (those rural Republican’s would still be sitting in the dark).

    Joe is happy to see his dad, who is now retired. Joe’s dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to. After his visit with dad, Joe gets back in his car for the ride home. He turns on a radio talk show. The host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees, “We don’t need those big government liberals ruining our lives. After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

    In the years to come, Joe’s life will change dramatically. The U.S. dollar will be devalued as a result of our huge deficit, our living standards demolished, our standing with the world diminished and our social security gone…all because some conservative republican made sure he could take care of himself and his buddies.

    Ya know, I’ve sorta changed how I feel about depleted uranium. I meana, it may be incredibly dangerous and poisonous to the environment and all living things, but you really got to see it in the proper perspective.

    In a few thousand years, the world will be none the worse for it. It may even rid the planet of all those useless humans and other (possibly) sentient life forms.

    It has been scientifically proven that most bugs (especially cockroaches) can withstand any amount of radiation that would be lethal to the rest of the “higher living things.”

    Bugs and roaches will inherit this Earth. Amen.
