Well, we’re already experiencing the newspeak effects of the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, so this isn’t as far-fetched as it would seem.
If you’re talking about establishment liberals they moved to the right a long time ago. BTW if you write a comment to the New York Times re. an article don’t call the writer, or the newspaper, establishment liberal or it won’t appear for certain.
Here’s another story about a high-profile Democrat that the mainstream media chose to ignore: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/13/justice-for-gemmel-moore-family-wants-answers-in-escorts-death-at-dem-donors-home.html
Liberals are siding with the FBI and CIA against Trump because Trump is a crook.Fraud, money laundering, etc. And that’s without getting into his political shenanigans.
Libs are fighting for the freedom and equality of America.
If the fascist Republicans take over the FBI and CIA libs might be fighting for their lives.
I used to be a liberal. Now I’m a fire-breathing radical environmentalist anti-capitalist. Yet I haven’t changed all that much.
Ted Rancid is showing a very twisted view.
It’s not progressives it’s regressives. They want to take us back to the times of master and serf with the top liberals being the masters of course. Calling the left progressive is just Orwellian double-speak.
Why do you say liberals are the master when the Republicans are running everything into the ground? Are you not paying attention to the new 1000 year reich wing?
Republicans want to impeach the Penn Supreme court because they said the unfair Republican gerrymandering had to go.
You know darn well that’s false equivalence, Ted. Just because they call themselves Democrats don’t mean they’re progressives or liberals. Most of the Democratic leadership are center-right at best. Many are near Reagan on the political spectrum.
On any sensible political spectrum, the Democrats are center-right and the Republicans are reactionary.
On the American political spectrum, anything to the left of Machiavelli is Marx.
I keep waiting for that dictatorship of the proletariat and nothing happens, oh well I can always watch North Korean figure skating.
A couple of papers on the dangers to liberal democracies (in more than just the US):
The bottom line is that it’s not all that simple and a simple Manichean view of political affiliation is not helpful.
