0.21 Light-years away, the dwellers of the 8th moon of a 2nd planet orbiting Alpha Century Plot the invasion of earth. (Alien: The Mitt-bot cyborg has mastered 70% of the bodily movements of the Terran race. Vocalizations elude him. No budget for that. Proceed.) (Man: Please note my human garb. The "shirt" and "granny pants" were taken from an anal-probe abductee in 1982. I am mitt-bot. ) Later. (Woman: He talks weird.) (Man 2: He never changes shirts.) (Man 3: Ever seen anyone so uncomfortable in their skin?) (Alien: "Their" ha!) (Alien 2: The Mitt-bot has reached the pinnacle of politics!) (Alien 3: Autaks! Mitt-bot has eaten a "newt"! It is his nature.) Next: Greeted as liberators.
How fast do neutrinos move? (I actually have no idea.)
My own larger point is that, whatever event is happening on the sun, we’d feel the effects of it the same time we’re aware of it. The 8 minutes (the time it takes electromagnetic energy to travel the distance from the sun to the earth, to which I believe jmatt was referring) would not be a factor; we couldn’t “see it coming.”
