What are those, depth charges? Have to set the fuzes no? This would be a colourful chase, if they are both using tracers and next the explosions.

Depth charges would be useless as an explosive in the river. They require deeper to set off the pressure fuse. They might damage the following boat if it collides with it.

Theoretically, he might be able to ignite them by firing into them with the machine gun. But since this is a comic strip, I don’t think they really care with the technical aspects of things.

So. We throw trash at them? Well, I guess….if insults didn’t work.
We’ll jam their props with a sea of plastic water bottles. Hopefully we can jam their rudders with these used disposable baby diapers.

Here’s a scenario. Somehow they reach Nairobi again. Tarzan & Don take care of the pointed beards, and Jane punches Delilah (first, that is. Tarzan is second).

So, did Delilah take Tarzan’s advice (yesterday) to get down, or did something else happen to stop her from interfering?

This story is tied up in nautical knots!

Depends on which type of depth charge they have. As I understand it, WW2 depth charge fuses were set for pressure (depth). In the early 1950s they changed to a contact fuses. I know because I came back off leave and my ship wasn’t at Norfolk where it was when I left. I met her the next day when she returned the next day from Philadelphia to off-load and re-load cans. I missed that work party!!

    Indeed!
    -
Did someone ARM the depth charges?
    -
And why didn’t Delilah pull Tarzan’s pants down around his ankles? Looked like she was trying.

Haha. You just reminded me of the joke about the old sailor that was doing three knots. (nots)

Even if the depth charges were set with a pressure fuse rather than a contact fuse, if the second PT boat is close enough they might represent a hazard to navigation that they’ll have to avoid hitting. Not that they’d necessarily explode if they’re hit, but they’re bound to at least make a dent in a boat traveling as fast as a PT at top speed.

A lot depends on how deep the river is. The minimum setting on a Mark 6 US depth charge was 30 feet, so if the river was deep enough it would go boom. The concussion could do a lot of damage to one of those wooden hulled boats. (I once read the story of Canadian Navy ship that was sunk by a U-Boat. The crew were unable to disarm the depth charges before the ship went down. When the stern reached the depth they were set for, they blew. The concussion from the explosions killed a lot of the guys who had survived the sinking but were in the water.)
