No. Actually, I think they should set up on top of the fence those milk bottle looking things they have in carnival games that you try to knock down with a baseball. If the ball knocks them down it’s a home run.

Someone hit a home-run into a flower bed at Target Field and the ball wasn’t found until the next day, by the stadium grounds crew. I think the fans sitting in the first row, spent more time (unsuccessfully) looking for the ball than watching the game.

In that Oakland game, they would have had to be very tall milk bottles, since the ball hit close to the top of the railing, about three feet above the home run line.

O’ course, you could get rid of the home run lines altogether, so that it has to leave the yard to be a home run.
    -
Yeah, I know, OMG that would mean fewer home runs.

I think milk bottles is a great idea — or ducks! Not live ducks, of course, just duck targets like they have at shooting galleries. There could be different targets on each side of the foul line. Knock over a milk bottle — home run! Knock over a duck — foul ball! QUACK!
