Old joke from “Happy Days” : “He lifts weights. You know, cars, trucks………..”
water_moon said, 3 months ago
Well if he’s going to bench his own weight I’m not sure many gyms could provide enough without a trainer’s help.

but he is still “fat”.
Then again, I have weighed about 260 since I was 15. Been told I was fat. Put into fat boy flight in basic training back in 1968, until they discovered I was just big, not fat. Body fat 8%. I still weigh about 260 even tho I run 3 miles a day, 7 days a week on my treadmill and lift weights for an hour a day. Low BP, low cholesterol, good heart stress test.Eat only 1 meal a day. Yet most all the VA doctors still tell me I am overweight and need to lose some weight.
If you go by the damn chart, I am 40 lbs overweight for my height, but I think that as long as someone is fit, they should throw away the bloody chart. People have been telling me that I am fat for the last 40+ years. Even when medical test prove I am not fat(with 8% body fat what can I lose?)they still insist that I am.

I totally agree! The services have tunnel vision when it comes to weight. They can only go by a chart. They are not allowed to think that all military members are not built the same.
I have seen too many booted for weight. I agree that if they pass the PT test, ignore the weight chart.
I am tall and thin. I can pass weight easy. That doesn’t mean I am fit.
I have learned that too low of body fat can be a problem. You don’t have the fat reserves to keep you warm or to give you energy when you can’t eat. Too little fat and cold weather and missing a couple of meals and you are in trouble!
So the military needs to get with it! Thin may look good in a Class A Uniform, but is not always the best for duty.
