Sports is Tank McNamara’s beat, his livelihood. A former professional football player who’s now a TV sportscaster, Tank McNamara reports on the breaking sports stories of the day: the hot players and angry coaches, the pending lawsuits and drawn-out strikes, the constant roar and ever-increasing hype that make organized sports one of the world’s most lucrative businesses.

January 7th is a long time to wait for Notre Dame to prove they really are National Champions !

Simple solution: cancel your cable subscription. Only two bowl games aren’t televised exclusively on ESPN or ESPN2; and the number of NFL games are extremely limited as well.

Uh, why is Tank going backwards?

will div 1 college football ever have a playoff to decide who really is the national champion? Or, will BCS keep a stranglehold on NCAA because it generates so much money.
Boycot all BCS bowls until the NCAA agrees to a national playoff.
The way it is done now is by far the most idiotic way to determine what team is the national champion I ever heard of.
BTW, Div 2 does not seem to find a playoff to be impossible.

I’ve come really close to doing so. Fifty percent of the average cable bill is due to the fees charged by sports channels. Having to pay for channels like the Big10, Pac12, and Longhorn Network is truly frustrating. Maybe the day will come when consumers can purchase a la carte packages, but I won’t hold my breath.

Local station today had a report that there IS a cable company getting ready to try a la carte. Missed the name though. Also, Jay Mohr reported that an “unnamed” Orange Bowl rep told Northern Illinois prior to the game that they didn’t really want them. Whatever. With E$PN controlling everything, I’ve watched two bowl games this year. Did anyone else think the lineman on the Georgia TD to finish off Nebraska was too far downfield? Only noticed it on the end zone angle, that it appeared he was farther downfield than the receiver!
