Sports is Tank McNamara’s beat, his livelihood. A former professional football player who’s now a TV sportscaster, Tank McNamara reports on the breaking sports stories of the day: the hot players and angry coaches, the pending lawsuits and drawn-out strikes, the constant roar and ever-increasing hype that make organized sports one of the world’s most lucrative businesses.

Ya know, I mentioned a few weeks ago how I miss the Chances and their own strip. Judging from their recent appearances, maybe M & H listened to me? If so, thanks guys.

Ah–you spotted the subtle indication that the teams are scoring so fast that the score will flip flop before he finishes uttering the words.

Thank you, Bill. That was subtle

Very clever. And I second BobBlumenfeld on bringing back the Chances.
While I know that you guys like to be topical and its easier to get comedy from reality ( just go to a city council meeting !! ), a a long time fan, I have enjoyed the Chances and have enjoyed the arcs that featured Tank and his personal relationships, either at the station or at home.
Keep up the great strip !

Thanks, I would have missed that. Not feeling too savvy at the moment, but I like the chance to improve myself.
PS- as long as we’re all mentioning our favorites, I liked the story lines w/ Angela and her kids. It was a nice way to get at issues around youth and sports that didn’t feel like a stretch. Tank having some kind of life seemed to fit, too.

I used to do sports at a radio station where one of the guys back in the studio would read scores off a printed sheet that listed visitors above home teams, and he’d always read the scores in that order no matter who was ahead. It’s maddening as hell if you’re calling a game and need to know who’s ahead in other games…it can really blow your train of thought because everything you’re doing on the air is extemporaneous.
