Boy do I wish I still had all those old bubblegum cards I collected as I kid.
I don’t even want to know what my Mantle, Maris, or Williams cards are worth today – to say nothing of my Eddie Mathews Boston Braves card or my Robbin Roberts Phillies cards!

I started collecting cards as a 10-year-old in 1969, but lost interest in the mid-80’s after all the dealers and speculators killed the fun by putting dollar signs on them (the proliferation of card companies didn’t help). I did keep a few thousand of the ones I’d always had.
In the early 90’s, I traded a Mario Lemieux rookie card for a full set of 1953 Topps baseball reprints. I’ve got probably every reprint set ever made now. Definitely a small niche in the hobby, but I’ve never regretted changing my focus.

Any Richie Ashburn cards?

@Linguist
well they’d be worth a lot less if everyone had kept theirs, that’s the point of the rare ones, they’re hard to come by
