Sounds like good advice. I would add friends and acquaintances. You never know who would like to spill the beans on you.

And that was one moment where I was ashamed to be a Phillies fan. You don’t head-hunt in baseball. You shouldn’t even try to deliberately hit a batter. If you think you have to throw at a player, perhaps use a 65 mph curveball aimed at his rump? You don’t throw 95 mph gas at his bean!

This is nothing. Dig up your baseball history…the Thirties were all about beanballs and intimidation of batters, espcially highly-touted rookies. Cole Hamels has nothing on Charlie Root. The one person who seems the most unruffled may be Harper himself, who had to know he was going to be tested at some point. It’s major league baseball, folks, and hitters will be thrown at until they replace pitchers with batting tees.

@GuiltyBystander
Can you imagine Big Pappy or Prince using a batting tee?

Walter Johnson not only never threw at batters deliberately, he was scared of hitting them accidentally. There’s also been a traditional difference between intimidation and head-hunting.
