Sports is Tank McNamara’s beat, his livelihood. A former professional football player who’s now a TV sportscaster, Tank McNamara reports on the breaking sports stories of the day: the hot players and angry coaches, the pending lawsuits and drawn-out strikes, the constant roar and ever-increasing hype that make organized sports one of the world’s most lucrative businesses.

How disgustingly P.C.

In the past Tank McNamara writers see a problem in college sports and use ESU (Enormous State University) as a representative of college football.
For some clueless reason, here they seem to want to aim their swipe at a region rather than pointing out the lack of black football coaches in ALL of Div. I.

Whatever happened to hiring the most qualified person? I agree that Turner Gill was far more qualified than the person Auburn had settled on; but, as I stated earlier this week they really did Mr. Gill a favour by turning him down. He would have been under such scrutinity that even the most perceived sense of failure would have been an excuse for getting rid of him. Let’s see if Boston College seriously consider a candidate of African-American origin. After all, “there has never been any predugice” demostrated up North.

BC has a black basketball coach. So there!

Racism is only part of the issue at Auburn anyway. Auburn’s athletic department is at best dysfunctional anyway. Only idiots would have let Tuberville go in the first place.

Isn’t it ironic that this strip is blasting southern schools about coaches of color when the vaunted IVY LEAGUE just hired its FIRST African American coach? Where’s the prejudice here? Could it be with the esteemed creators of this usually worthwhile strip?

Placing this scene at a northern school would require a thought process and some effort, both of which seem to be in short supply with the media these days. It’s easier just to stereotype. Just like southerners are almost always portrayed as racist, uneducated bumpkins in TV and movies. The really unfortunate part is many people beleive this as gospel because they saw it on the internet or TV.

I like how the coach is standing up to the panel and seems to be calling them on their so called ‘interview’ process.
I’m with the concensus, this is a problem everywhere. I’m sure Millar & Hinds are trying to sting one particular school but we need to spread the blame around alot more.

Anybody think that there will be another round of strips if Boston College hires a white guy?
