Tall Tale Radio by Tom Racine

Episode Description

Tom Dell'Aringa has wrapped up a cool and successful 5-year run of his comic "Marooned: A Space Opera in the Wrong Key," and it's been a heck of a road! Find out how the strip developed over the years, his Kickstarter to make a comprehensive graphic novel of it, and a great discussion on the problem that all comic creators will one day face; do I continue on, do I change things up, or is it time to end my comic?

I’m not surprised, Night. No matter how good your comic is, promoting it is the hardest part. There are still comics online if you want to check it out, or you can back the kickstarter.

Half of the joy of what I do is introducing people to new work. No matter how famous a cartoonist is, there are millions who have no idea of their work. Inside the industry, we all know names like Pastis or Amend, but most of the people I know in my life who are not really into comics have barely heard of “Peanuts.” And the web is even more so…some cartoonists have rabid followings, and I’ve never heard of them…and I’m around this stuff all the time! The good news is, now’s a chance to get out there and see what’s going on…in many ways, it really IS a golden age for the amount and quality of comics and graphic novels out there.
