Meet Nicole Hollander
For 20 years, Nicole Hollander has made her way as one of the few female cartoonists whose work appears on comics pages nationwide. Her thoughtful cartoon strip SYLVIA appears daily and weekly in more than 80 newspapers, including The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The Detroit News, The Seattle Times, San Francisco Examiner and The Denver Post.

Hollander's many books include My Weight Is Always Perfect For My Height -- Which Varies; Hi, This Is Sylvia; and Tales From Planet Sylvia (St. Martin's Press); Never Take Your Cat to a Salad Bar (Random House); Everything Here is Mine (Avon Books); Female Problems: An Unhelpful Guide (Dell Books); My Cat's Not Fat, He's Just Big-Boned (Hysteria/Sourcebooks); and several books of illustration, including 101 Reasons Why a Cat Is Better Than a Man, Women Who Love Their Cats Too Much, Why Cats Make Great Kids and Everything I Know About the Rat Race I Learned From My Cat (all with writer Allia Zobel). Hollander also illustrated the children's books Messie Jessie and Hot Henry by Robie Harris (St. Martin's Press).

Hollander has also written for The New York Times Review of Books; The New York Times Leisure Arts section, Washington Post magazine, Chicago magazine and Mirabella. She is also a contributing writer and cartoonist for Mother Jones magazine.

Her other projects include "Sylvia's Real Good Advice, a Musical Comedy," written with Arnold Aprill and Tom Mula; and "Female Problems," a musical revue, written with Cheri Coons.
