Clinical depression is a major societal problem, yet seldom discussed. Its claim of Robin has brought all of us (except Rush & Sarah) into a week of mourning. We will miss him very much.

Paul Simon: “Hello darkness my old friend.” We who’ve dealt with it, understand it, as Robin did, but hopefully, can keep ahead of it.

Rush Limbaugh’s comments are being taken out of context. He, like you and I, regrets Williams’ death and wants to encourage people struggling with depression to resist suicidal impulses and seek help.

People will always tell you that Clinical Depression is easily treated.
Yes, it is…but there’s five little words they always fail to include that change everything.
    1. If
    2. You
    3. Can
    4. Afford
    5. It.
That’s the dirty little secret about Depression…it ain’t CHEAP to treat, and most insurance plans won’t go near it.

“The medication is only $4.” “Bus fare is only $2.” This from the local government run mental health clinic. I can’t find a job to save my life, so it could cost a dime, and I still can’t get it. What’s really bonkers is the state mental health hospital costs $984/day, and the county I live in can’t afford $6/month to get me the meds I need.

Rush Limbaugh is a foul mouth bigot who will say anything to get his name noticed.
But Dissing Robin Williams may lose him more sponsers.

I read the comment, but still think he was out of line. Political ideology had no place in this discussion. As a libertarian I’m as annoyed as conservatives with liberal celebrities, but upon hearing about Robin Williams death I mourned for his passing and his politics in my mind had no place.

^Lookinside: a nice statement, and “survivor guilt” is a PART of my PTSD that left me with depression, like you, for nearly five decades now. I work with my “shrink” on that, along with other issues, still. As to we combat veterans, the other component American chickenhawks just don’t get, it the emotional pain that never goes away because of the lives you took especially the innocent “accidental” ones that wing nuts accept as mere “collateral damage”- so they can enjoy there “freedom”, and CHEAP GAS!!

And yes, I’ve also got personal experience with suicides, and attempts- which can be nearly as profound an experience.
