The cartoon shows “Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war”, but I think that the reality is “Do not cry havoc, where you should but hunt with modest warrant.” At least I think that’s what Obama is trying to do.

An issue blown totally out of proportion, especially when considering all the “collateral damage”, like thousands of dead civilians, caused by “shock and awe” bombing raids, ore even "W"’s use of drones and less “specifically targeted” missions.

The cartoon is a parody of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

Romney would have ordered the flying monkeys unleashed (and then had to have that impossibility explained to him).

Everyone should be very troubled by the killing of American citizens without due process. It may seem the government is going after real ‘terrorists’ now but in the future when it becomes common practice that doesn’t even get reported any more, and the government changes yet again and again, and we end up with leaders who think they were given a license to kill merely from an election win, it will be too late to regain our forsaken constitutionally granted liberties. It’s all too easy to rationalize killing those you don’t want, whoever they may be. It’s a road to dictatorship. It’s everyone’s responsibility to speak out against such erosion of liberties.

Obama’s been doing a pretty good job of decimating Al Qaeda.

It’s racist to mention flying monkeys.

“Everyone should be very troubled by the killing of American citizens without due process.”
We should be troubled by the killing of non-Americans without some sort of independent oversight. I understand that drones are going to become more & more common in warfare. It’s just a matter of time before our enemies develop the capability to use drones on a significant scale. I’d feel a lot better about denouncing them for indiscriminate drone strikes, if I felt we weren’t guilty of more than a few.
Obama has been an improvement over Bush in that he has shown more caution about committing ourselves to conflicts around the world, but he is no better when it comes to the urge to preserve his ability to operate without restrictions. I don’t see any Republicans who look like they’d be any better & most would be FAR worse.

The Al Qaeda of Bin Laden has been mauled & rendered ineffective for the moment. Other terrorist groups see value in the “Al Qaeda” brand & are adopting it. Some are true believers, many are local thugs trying to cloak themselves in legitimacy.
Focusing on Al Qaeda, or even Islamists, is like wearing blinders. There are plenty of other groups engaging in terrorist activity around the world. Thanks to faster communication & travel, those groups are often sharing techniques & tactics.
We are going to continue suffering from terrorist attacks until we convince terrorists to use political means to work for their agendas. Before you scoff, think about the history of the Haganah and the Lehi. They committed terrorist attacks on the British before Israel gained independence, and were uncooperative with the new Israeli government until they were brought into the fold with a mix of force and incentives.
Strange trivia: Dr. Ruth Westheimer was a sniper for the Haganah.
