Now we know this is a pipe dream. There is no such thing as a “moderate GOP.” Might as well look for the tooth fairy.

    You got that right.
Actually what will probably kill the bill is that Obama said he approves and they can’t let him win anything.

Xenophobia from the right has long been a serious mental condition, a few are starting to take their meds, but not enough.

That’s just not true — there is a moderate GOP — I met him last year and we had a beer together. Nice chap. He said he felt lonely.

Gee we should just welcome invaders with open arms or we are Nazis? Why aren’t borders as jealously gaurded as political correctness?

I know as many moderate republicans as I do moderate liberals. None of them are willing to fall under the “eye of Sauron” (for you Morty) and the glare of media lights to pursue public office. Our culture eliminates good messages by grinding the messenger into the mud. This attitude of 100% commitment to an idea is inane…insane too, but inane at its core. Glad to see the artist was willing to put at least one ‘liberal’ on the left. But as is often the case, why should D’s raise their heads as long as the R’s are eating their own…and vice versa.

This is the 3rd time I mention France in an hour on this forum, but I met many French republicans recently. Does that count?
Hell, if you ask me (go on) I’d say I’m a republican, too. Born in a republic and hold the passport of yet another republic. See, no shame here. Now proud Republicans, from the US of A, never met one, at least no-one’s ever admitted to me to being one.

@ Onguard & pirate227 – Pirate asks where the moderate “Grand Old Party” is. Onguard seeks a moderate Democrat.
Neither party is ‘moderate’ in its goals or tactics. However, there are moderates within the parties. I would be hard pressed to name elected party loyalists who are moderates without a bit of research. And one person’s moderate repub is another man’s “Repub In Name Only”, just as some moderate Dems are considered “Blue Dogs” at best.
Both parties seek to divide neighbors in an effort to stay elected with dire warnings and promises to often not kept.
@ Dr Canuck – there seems to be many proud republicans on these comment strings. I don’t see anyone claiming to be part of the Tea Party, tho that group has its defenders. We have some Libertarians who identify themselves as such. Dems are usually referred to as Liberals. I consider myself a Progressive Moderate. Do you have a politcal label?
