I suppose the point that Stuart is trying to make made sense to him.

Pretty obvious point how could you miss it. Now if Obama would actually do it and take them off we could see some real changes, he really has nothing to lose.

    We can ONLY hope.
I fear it will be more of the same we saw for the last 4 years, pre-emptive concessions that the republicans will only refuse because meeting their demands doesn’t go far enough.

To be fair President Obama has been a little tougher with the republicans after the election than he ever was before, but I don’t expect it to get any tougher.

I thought of that as his point, but it just seemed a little inane.

I expect that his second term will be much like President Clinton’s. He will spend much of it trying to defend himself from impeachment. There are a lot of Republicans crying out for it already. The charge is that he is trying to rule by Executive Order bypassing Congress.

Hey you homogeneous, 100% identical VRWC folks out there.
Give the Great Mr. Obama everything he wants. Everything.
That will either lead to the ruin of the US or the election of a Republican in 2016.
Besides, it isn’t your country anymore, so why worry about it?
It be the Obamanation now, habla?

When ruling trough congress is totally impossible, I prefer ruling by any means.

Executive orders are not, in and of themselves, impeachable offenses. There is Constitutional provision for them, and they are therefore not unconstitutional per se. Every president has used them, and Obama is about in the middle of the pack. Have any of Obama’s orders constituted “high crimes and misdemeanors”?

I have no doubt that “a lot” of Republicans are calling for impeachment proceedings, though. The current crop is a pretty irrational bunch.

Can you name one of the executive orders that is impeachable? No one seems to be able to spot one. They just hate the president. Nothing comes CLOSE to George HW Bush’s executive order banning the import of assault weapons. He’s a constitutional scholar, and a very ethical man; it’s going to be really tough to find anything to impeach him on.

“Executive orders are not, in and of themselves, impeachable offenses.”
Irrelevant for the rabid, vile, petulant republicans Didn’t matter with Clinton either, it wasn’t his indiscretion that they finally ramrodded an impeachment for, it was the lie he told when they refused to let their witch hunt die. And lest we forget, the head cheerleader of the republican circus then was himself guilty of the very same thing. Honor and integrity had nothing to do with their partisan shenanigans, they only cared about making political points regardless of how many tax dollars they wasted.

Nothing will get in the way of the republican agenda, so further wasted time and tax payer dollars is not out of the realm of probability and the Supreme Circus won’t hold them accountable. With stronger Democrat numbers in the Senate you know any impeachment coming out of the House will fail in the Senate so President Obama probably has nothing to fear but that won’t stop the republicans wasting time.

How many times do you think the HoR will vote to impeach President Obama? 33?? 47??
