Editorial cartoonist Stuart Carlson has the unique ability to look at current events and bring them from that far away place where news is made and into the homes and daily lives of his readers. His material not only targets politicians and recognizable media figures, but it also covers topics that hold up a mirror to everyday Americans and sends them into action, wanting to take on the issues in their own lives.

Prob’ly the answer will be NO. Whether some violence will accompany it, remains to be seen (a briefcase full of paper and books can be a formidable weapon, even in untrained hands!)

So now the Republicans are responsible for the fact that the Obamas pay their female staff members less than their male counterparts?

I was contemplating what was going to happen with that bottle after she takes it.

She married an elephant? She should have married a Republican. They believe in helping all people get jobs no matter what race, religion or sex. The dems are creating a sex war.

The part that never ceases to amaze me is the number of women who will defend this behavior by the Repubs.

Equal pay is a formulaic dispute as well as social one. For those who care to think (versus get their news and information from cartoons). We know that women actually make more than men based on a Time magazine study regarding women who were young and childless. Married women often choose a distinct lifestyle and have different priorities than married men. I believe you would be foolish not to acknowledg that, much as Stuart Carlson has, but he’s a cartoonist, they aren’t known for thinking things through, simply drawing viscerally. It is easy to see why people who don’t think are caught in this lemming cycle.

what are equal jobs — note it is not same as same jobs

So let me unstand this …it is saying all Dems give equal or better pay to women? All unions stop using seniority as the basis of “bumping” rights to address past non-equal hiring practices…

Yes, as found in 1984, war is peace. What other thoughtcrimes do you have?

An election-year Democratic measure designed to ensure that women don’t face pay discrimination was blocked Tuesday by Republicans who complained that the bill was politically inspired and would reward trial lawyers at the expense of employers.
.
The motion, which needed 60 votes to succeed, got only 52, not one from a Republican.
.
President Obama issued a statement criticizing Republicans for putting “partisan politics ahead of American women and families.”
.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, standing at a news conference with pay equity advocate Lilly Ledbetter, accused Republicans of “wanting to stick their heads in the sand” about the longstanding issue of women being paid less than men. “But it’s clear where Democrats stand,” Reid said.

You got that right.
If that was me, I’d go “here, honey” – drop the divorce papers in his lap, then go out the door!
…and that’s if I mistakenly married the Idiot. More likely I’d give him an empty (but clean) bottle with a “dear John” note inside. By the time he read that, I’d be long gone!
