Uh guys – it’s the moderate Dem’s who are watering it down. Thankfully so far the Repub’s are simply saying No, and I know that bothers you, but since the Dem’s could get this thru today, why aren’t you blaming them? They’re not bi-partisan; they’re not even united as a party. If the Republicans are divided and/or partisan, that’s what you call them, but when the Dem’s have the majority, and can’t get something thru (and you KNOW it’s cuz the majority of Americans don’t want it) - why do u blame the Republicans!? We all know where the left wants to take this, and most Americans just don’t want it, and that’s reflected (albeit maybe weakly) in Congress.

sclark - if you’ve been reading these for awhile, then you’ll know that those on the left have hardly spared their own. They certainly are holding up the blue dogs to account for their actions. One big problem is that they are cowards. Most blue dogs live in districts where their margin of victory was very slim, and they fear losing. Yes, that’s politics over the good of the nation – but it’s also reality.
As to most of the nation NOT wanting reform, I don’t believe it. I DO believe that depending on how you ask the question, you can get polls that indicate it. However, I know far more who want some reform – and this goes for conservatives as well as liberals when it comes to their own health care needs – than those who do not want it.

It has turned into insurance reform not health reform.

Money, money, just follow the money trail all the way from the legislators to the lobbyists, to the insurance companys, etc. The rest is pure B.S.

Back in July MSNBC had a panel discussion on what would happen with health care. There were the usual “talking heads”, but also a well known comedian.
There was the usual “this or that could happen” and the usual “maybe this/maybe that”, but the comedian went right to the point.
He said on one side you have 47 million uninsured Americans – 47 million men, women, and children who could get sick and die - and on the other side you have few rich corporations.
It’s no contest: Health Care Will Lose.

So the 3% cost attached to VA and social services (public) in general wouldn’t provide a better healthcare “product” to us than the 30% being sucked up by the insurance industry?
And the “for-profit” option strikes you obstructionists as being best since their denial of benefits and cancellation of policies translates directly into their “bottom line” profits and bonuses? Really?
If you’d like I can provide the AVERAGE income per CEO of the largest healthcare executives but here’s an example of where the money from denials and cancellations goes http://sickforprofit.com/ceos/
And something else to think about
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBi2hMK1G8Y
Are you also a Max Baucus supporter? He’s against the public option to the tune of $4 million in his campaign coffers.
And since the insurance companies have immunity, their cancellations (or denial of coverage) can’t be pursued http://smargus.com/2009/08/waxman-refuses-vote-to-revoke-immunity-for-insurance-companies-in-health-care-bill/ if you’re insured thru an employer.
This is what’s known as a “Fixed Game” or a legal ripoff, suppose that’s OK with you too?
Corruption, Graft, Payoffs, Immunity. All legal and thriving in the current healthcare insurance industry AND our political system.
And lest we forget, people dying as a result of the above.

HOWGOZIT said, about 1 month ago
You are right Warren–health care will lose just like Dems turned SS into a loss.

If S.S. or health-care were such a concern for republicans Howie, why didn’t they do something about it during” Shrubbies ” 8 years in office. Just wasted their time in office, yes!
