Yeah, after eight years of the-most-vacation-ever years of Bush, it must be hard to get used to a President who really busts his butt trying to tackle all the issues confronting our country.

  2. motivemagus

    motivemagus said, 9 months ago

Arguably Bush only served six years, given the amount of vacation he took. Kind of like his National Guard “service,” when he bailed out early and blew it off.

And let us never, never NEVER forget.

The Aug 6. Memo ‘Osama determined to strike in US’

    The Tsunami

    Hurrican Katrina

Three things Bush refused to interrupt his vacation for

    Terry Schiavo’s law.

The ONE thing he did interrupt it for.

Yes he and his side kick “sneak out” in a motorcade and with camera crew. Orating about something is not busting one’s butt “tackling” issues.

Orating? So now the criticism of Obama is that he’s telling us what he’s doing?

  9. tracht47

The right is going to critisize Obama for what ever he does. They don’t need any justification. This cartoon is just an example of how desperate they are.

DANIELS–learn how to read and quit putting words in other folks’ posts. Did not say he has done NOTHING and am not criticising him. I just believe there are too many that think things are done just because he has mentioned an “issue.” I wish him every success unlike Bush bashers who blame Bush for everything.

Yes, he’s orating about things he’s going to do and then he shuts up and does them.

“I just believe there are too many that think things are done just because he has mentioned an “issue.””

I don’t know of anyone that’s done that.

“I wish him every success unlike Bush bashers who blame Bush for everything.”

I don’t know of anyone that’s done that either.

…makes me wonder. If Obama opted for regular mustard, would Hannity take him to task for using a “YELLOW!” mustard by a company named “FRENCH’S”?

  20. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

Give it up Howdy…you already tried to blame what went wrong during Bush’s watch on the Dems…when you claimed that the Dems have controlled the congress for the last SIX years.

And how many times have we seen a rightie try to put the ENTIRE blame for the economic meltdown on Barney Frank and Chris Dodd?

  21. HOWGOZIT

    HOWGOZIT said, 9 months ago

Simon–they did control–through filibusters, blocking, etc., etc. As I also said majority does not always mean control.
Daniels–like I’ve said–you are blind to whatever you choose not to believe.

  22. motivemagus

    motivemagus said, 9 months ago

Obama _is_ doing stuff. He’s already addressed some 20% of his campaign promises in some form - not always meeting each one completely, but the vast majority of the time something is under way. Not bad for a few months, eh?
    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

  23. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

No they didn’t Howdy. The Dems never filibustered or blocked even ONE piece of legislation that Bush either proposed or backed.

But thanks for proving my point, here you are, blaming the Dems for Bush’s failings only ONE post after accusing THEM of being the blamers.

Thanks for playing, and don’t let your consolation prizes hit you on the way out.

  24. HOWGOZIT

    HOWGOZIT said, 9 months ago

Simon you are my consolation prize–and I tossed it away!

  25. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

And you are the guy who cannot refute my argument. You CAN’T cite any examples of the Dems successfully blocking Bush. and you can’t deny that you’re doing exactly what you said the Dems are going to do.

  26. HOWGOZIT

    HOWGOZIT said, 9 months ago

There were over 50 democrat filibusters in the 109th Congress

  27. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

    Ahhh, where to begin?

First of all you said the Dems have been in charge for the last SIX years, right?

Wellll, the 109th Congress sat from 2005-2006.

    2009-2005 = only 4 years. That’s number one.

Second, well that’s what you SAY. Let’s see some back up to bolster that claim. And for that matter, how big is that number compared to the number of Republican filibusters in any single one of the Clinton years? For all we know that could be SOP for any congressional year.

And finally, just for the sake of argument, let’s assume you’re right: How many of those fiibusters were successful? That’s the key word. You can’t say the Dems were in charge unless their agenda was working. How may of Bush’s Supereme court appointees were sucessfully blocked by the Dems…or any of his other judicial appointments for that matter? Were the Dems able to block the Patriot Act, or even force an amendment? How about the Bankruptcy Bill? Or the Bush Tax cuts? Did the Dems shoot down even ONE military appropriations bill that came up during the Bush years? Terry Schiavo’s Law came up in the 109th Congress. Was that one filibustered, even UN-successfully?

But more than that, how many pieces of progessive legislation even reached the President’s desk over the last six years? During the 109th Congress there was only one, the Stem Cell Research Bill…and that one was successfully vetoed.

Sorry, but you’re spouting rightie-radio bullet points that nobody but your fellow neo-cons are ever going to believe.

And You’re STILL proving my point, blaming the Dems for the Bush years, after predicting that the Dems will blame anything that goes wrong during Obama’s tenure on Bush.

Simon the Quester, I believe the Dems gained congressional power in 2006 - giving them the last three years running the show and holding the hole card. But, don’t worry , you Libs won’t have much longer to fret over what to do with your authority (at this rate).
Also, the fear of the filibuster is what prevented Repubs from running their whole agenda. I know you know that; So I have to wonder what your goal is? Mis-leading the Gocomic-Piblic? Tsk, tsk.

  36. Simon_Jester

    Simon_Jester said, 9 months ago

    You know Sockpuppy…it’s truly amazing.

I mean, I put up all these facts, and you STILL insist that the Dems are on the way down based on nothing but right-wing radio bullet points.

Like Stew, you claim that the Dems ruled the roost for the past three years ( Stew said it was six ) by blocking the Republican agenda. You don’t cite any examples, just say ‘gang of 14’ wihtout explaining who they were, or what they did. What that tells me it that you’re parroting back yet another talking point from right-wing radio.

This is why YOUR party, not mine that is disentegrating. And unlike you I can cite specifice examples of how the Repubs are coming apart. Wanna hear ‘em?

Well too bad, coz you’re going to, anyway.

Right now only a little more than 20% of Americans indentify themselves as Republicans.

You’ve got Michelle Bachmann talking about Re-education camps and Rick Perry and Chuck Norris talking secession. If you think THAT’S going to bring people to the Republican Party, have I got a bridge to sell you.

And remember that tax-revolt tea-party from earlier this month? I sure hope so, coz no one else does. Just like I said at the time, the whole thing was a flop

And speaking of flops, the so-called ‘GOP Listening Tour’ appers to be falling flat on it’s face before it even started. You had protestors carrying ‘RINOS Go Home’ signs showing up at the very first event, and now Rush Limbaugh is turning Eric Cantor into Eric RE-Cantor…along with practically everyone else in the Republican Party.

And that’s the other thing Stewpuppy, how are the Republicans going to handle the economy, Pakistan, etc. if they can’t stand up to ONE little radio talk-show host?

Meanwhile the RNC chairman Michael Steele is facing a revolt over party funds, and the ‘alternate budget’ Boehner proposed recently is now widely regarded as a joke.

That’s what I have sockpuppy, all YOU have is your ideology and arrogant belief that you’re two rungs up the food chain from everyone to the left of you. ( A very common occurence among neo-cons I have noticed. )

That’s why neo-conservatism is finished, it is no more, bereft of life, it rests in peace, it neo-cons hadn’t milked 9/11 for eveything they could get, it would already be pushing up the daisies, it’s a stiff, it’s six feet under, it’s rung down the curtain, kicked the bucket and joined the choir invisible.

    This is an EX movement.

Make it a bridge to nowhere. Republicans like those. You’ll get a good price.
