ANandy - you answered fairly, so I will too. What troubles me – and a lot of people in this country – is that our country does not give everyone a chance to maximize their potential. If you have money, or even came from a family that once had some money (like mine - we were pretty bleeep poor growing up), it is vastly more likely that your kids will get a better education, get into better universities, and get better jobs. Is that fair? The origin of public schools in this country was to build up the capability of the entire electorate – or, as you put it, to maximize everyone’s potential. We’re wasting a lot of potential these days.
