The consumer economy was great in the 1990s, but only the top 20% increased consumer spending. The top one percent contributed most to consumer market during the Bush years buying as many as nine homes as McCain did.

I heard Sen Bernie Sanders on the radio and he said that the top 40 PEOPLE saw their net worth INCREASE $670B in the last 8 years.
