This is what, the third time? or is it the fourth or fifth time Foxconn has promised to build some giant factory outside China.
They’ve never built any such thing. Their great and SOLE advantage is low wages in China with no unions or pollution rules they can’t skirt. Why would they give that up? It doesn’t make any sense.
Now, that was published some months before all this gas about leaving China. A totally automated factory MIGHT make sense, though it will support no jobs save by “pipeline math”.
But I fully expect it’ll wind up like the Pennsylvania promises – nothing but a political ploy for temporary advantage. Forget the Pennsylvania promises? Refresh your memory:
