With Strange Brew, Deering -- famous for his biting humor and political savvy as chief editorial cartoonist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette -- has an outlet for his creative sense of humor and quirky view of life.
"Being an editorial cartoonist today, you have to be tuned-in to pop culture as well as politics -- but there are some limits to what you can do," Deering says "In Strange Brew, everything’s fair game. I get to cut loose and draw anything."

Notso: Absinthe may make the heart grow fonder, but it turns the brain to mush. At least the stuff they made in the 19th century using wormwood as a flavoring. Now shown to be a nerve poison.

I am just a Poe boy, though my story’s seldom told (at least anymore).

I’m not sure Poe would have appreciated a dinner bell given his seeming dislike of bells.
