    Why is some stuff apparently weightless and other stuff is not?

    It’s not weightless… he just squeezed too hard and it’s taking a really long time to come down. ( I wonder if that is Salmon or Pink? See today’s “Pickles”)

    An object at rest will remain at rest until acted upon by an exterior force. If the table is put on the ground, it is going to stay there (“weighing” less than on earth) but staying there nonetheless.

    He’d have to worry more about frozen paint than weightless.

    H.G. Wells, in First Men In The Moon, showed a greater understanding of the effects of gravity in space than people who have lived to have seen its effects (on TV at least).

    Why are you guys trying to study and understand physics from a comic?

    @tagteam

    Right- It’s not supposed to be a zero
    gravity scene. The paint and brush
    (which apparently was just moved)
    are showing the effect of being
    displaced in a lower – gravity
    environment. But, yeah, it’s a
    cartoon.

    And what you said, also!

    The moon is a vacuum, so there would be some “expulsion” of the paint if there were any air in the paint container when it was uncapped, wouldn’t there?

    Cool! The oil paint oozing into space. Far Out!

    Yes, I can see where that would be a problem.

    Actually, into the moon’s atmosphere. SF fans get a little picky. Just read the above. : )

    Actually, the paint would freeze only if it’s in the shadow. Under the sun, it would boil!
